THE BIBLE
We believe the Holy Bible is God’s inspired Word and the final authority for faith and life. Scripture is sufficient to teach us truth, correct us when we stray, and train us to live in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16).
GOD AND HIS GLORY
We believe in one God who exists eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. All things exist for His glory, and all of life is meant to reflect His goodness, holiness, and love. (Deuteronomy 6:4)
JESUS CHRIST
We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life, died for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, and reigns as Lord. Christ alone is the way by which we are reconciled to God. (John 1:1, 14; John 14:6)
SALVATION BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH
We believe salvation is entirely a gift of God’s grace, not something earned by human effort. We are justified by faith alone as we trust completely in the finished work of Jesus Christ our behalf. (Ephesians 2:8–9)
THE HISTORIC CREEDS OF THE CHURCH
We affirm the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, the Athanasian Creed, and the Definition of Chalcedon as faithful summaries of biblical teaching. These creeds do not replace Scripture but serve as trusted witnesses to the core truths of the Christian faith and help unite the Church across time and tradition. (Jude 3)
THE CHURCH
We believe the Church is the body of Christ, called to worship God, proclaim the gospel, make disciples, and live as a visible sign of God’s kingdom in the world. (Matthew 28:18–20)
THE SACRAMENTS
We believe Jesus Christ instituted two sacraments as visible signs of God’s grace: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
BAPTISM
Baptism marks entry into the covenant community and signifies upon with Christ in His death and resurrection, the washing away of sin, and new life by the holy spirit.
Higher Hope Church recognizes both the baptism of believers upon profession of faith and the baptism of children of believing parents, honoring the diversity of convictions within the wider Body of Christ.
Baptism is administered with water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)
THE LORD'S SUPPER (HOLY COMMUNION)
The Lord’s Supper is a remembrance of Christ’s once-for-all sacrifice and a means of grace for believers. In the bread and cup, we affirm the real presence of Christ by the Holy Spirit.
Though the elements remain bread and cup, believers truly commune with the risen Lord through faith.
All who trust in Jesus Christ and have been baptized are welcome to partake, and we receive the meal together as one body. (Luke 22:19–20)
